Ingredients
 
 

  • Glass Bowl Of Olive Oil Isolated On White Background1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Green Onions Isolated On White1 small green onions (scallions or green shallots) - minced
  • Garlic2 cloves garlic - minced
  • Fresh Green Pepper Isolated On White Background½ medium green pepper (green capsicum) - diced
  • Champignon Mushroom6 ounces mushrooms - diced
  • Raw Meat Mince10 ounces ground beef (minced beef) - sirloin
  • Crushed Tomatoes28 ounces passata or crushed tomatoes (tomato puree with seeds removed) - low-salt
  • Dried Basil Leaves In Wooden Bowl Over White½ teaspoon dried basil
  • Penne Pasta8 ounces penne pasta
  • Parmesan Cheese2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese - grated
  • Mozzarella Cheese Isolated On White Background¾ cup Mozzarella cheese - reduced-fat and grated

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add the shallot, garlic, pepper, and mushrooms, and sauté until they begin to soften. Include the hamburger and separate as you cook until the meat is caramelized. Add the tomatoes and basil. Simmer while the pasta cooks.
  • Cook the penne pasta as per package directions. Drain and return to the pot. Toss with the beef sauce.
  • Spot one portion of the pasta in the base of a casserole. Top with 1/2 of the parmesan. Top with remaining pasta. Sprinkle with mozzarella and the remaining parmesan.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheddar tans and the casserole bubbles.
  • Serve warm.
