While I am not a fan of the traditional name (Sloppy Joes), I am a huge fan of this Ground Turkey Sloppy Joes for a few reasons. 1. It’s easy. 2. Mine are made with ground turkey. 3. Ingredients
 
 

  • Turkey Mince1 pound ground turkey (minced turkey)
  • Fresh Green Pepper Isolated On White Background1 medium green pepper (green capsicum) - diced
  • Ripe Yellow Onion On A White Background1 medium yellow onion - diced
  • Garlic3 cloves garlic - pressed
  • Ketchup1 ½ cup ketchup (tomato sauce Australia and UK)
  • Bowl Of Brown Sugar1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Red Hot Chili Pepper Powder And Half Isolated On White Background2 teaspoons chili powder (chilli powder in British English)
  •  
    1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • Pile Of Red Paprika Powder1 teaspoon paprika
  • Heap Of Cayenne Pepper½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Dried Chili Pepper Flakes In Wooden Bowl Over White½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Worcestershire Sauce2 shakes Worcestershire sauce
  • Bottle With Hot Chili Pepper Sauce And Fresh Tabasco Peppers5 shakes Tabasco sauce
  • Glass Bowl Of Olive Oil Isolated On White Background1 splash Olive oil
  •  
    1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese - shredded
  • Three Hamburger Buns With Sesame Isolated On A White Background4 medium hamburger buns - toasted

Instructions
 

  • Begin by drizzling the Dutch over with olive oil over medium-high heat.
  • Next brown the turkey meat. While they are browning, dice the green pepper and onion. Once the meat is 90% finished, add the peppers and onions, salt and pepper.
  • Once the onions are translucent, add the garlic, ketchup, brown sugar, chili powder, dry mustard paprika, cayenne pepper. Stir and let simmer for 5 minutes. Then add Worcestershire and Tabasco. Let simmer for another 15 minutes, stirring every few minutes.
  • Toast the buns, add a heaping spoonful of the turkey mixture, top with shredded cheese and bon appĂ©tit!

*If the mixture becomes too thick, add 1/4-1/2 cup water to thin it out.
