Savoury Beef Cake Recipe: Perfect for Snack
Either a snack for your children or brunch at the office, try this savoury beef cake recipe as an alternative to the typical sweet cakes.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup all purpose flour (plain flour Australia and UK) - more if needed
- ¾ pound ground beef (minced beef)
- 2 cups Mozzarella cheese - chopped
- ⅔ cup milk - more if needed
- 2 medium eggs
- 1 medium red onion - finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt - or to taste
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper - or to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (air mode).
- Add 2 tbsp olive oil in a pan and saute the red pepper pieces, onion and minced beef over high heat for 5 minutes, until all the liquid has evaporated.
- Let the mixture cool off the heat.
- Beat the eggs until frothy – use a hand mixer. The time needed is around 2 minutes.
- Gradually add flour and yeast while beating.
- Add milk and the remaining oil and continue beating until the mixture is smooth.
- Add the cooked beef mince, basil, mozzarella, salt and pepper and stir well with a spatula.
- Pour the cake mixture into a non-stick loaf pan and bake for 50-55 minutes.
- Once done, let it cool completely before serving.
