Aromatic Pork and Grits Casserole
This aromatic pork and grits casserole is a special recipe I make during occasions. I love how this dish is filling and satisfying.
Ingredients
1 pound ground pork (minced pork)
4 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup cheddar cheese - shredded
4 ounces cream cheese - small cubes
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly coat the 13×9 baking dish with vegetable oil(I don’t use non-stick spray).
- Cook the ground pork in a medium skillet over med-high heat until no longer pink. Drain the grease away and set it aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine grits, salt and water. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for approx 20 to 25 minutes (stirring occasionally)
- Next, add pork (reserve approximately 1/4 cup), pepper, cheddar cheese(reserve approximately 1/4 cup) and cream cheese to the grits.
- Stir the mixture well and pour it into the greased baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining sausage and cheese.
- Bake the pork and grits casserole for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
