Heartwarming Chiliville Sausage Chili For Chilly Evenings

Most households will have some sausages in the freezer and this recipe will lift your sausage game to the next level. Our Chili Ville Sausage Chili is a great lunch or dinner recipe.
1packageItalian sausage (American name for Pork Sausage with Fennel Seeds) - or 16 ounces (Mild, Sweet or Hot)
1poundground beef (minced beef)
1mediumyellow onion - chopped
3piecescelery ribs - chopped
3mediumgarlic - minced
1cantomato - diced
1cangreen pepper (green capsicum) - or 14.5 ounces
1canyellow onion - or 14.5 ounces
2cansred kidney beans - 16 ounces each, rinsed and drained
1canbeef stock (beef broth or beef bouillon) - or 14.5 ounces
1cantomato paste - or 6 ounces
2tablespoonsbrown sugar
2tablespoonschili powder (chilli powder in British English)
1tablespoonWorcestershire sauce
2teaspoonsground cumin
½teaspoonsred pepper flakes - crushed
1handfulCheddar cheese - shredded (optional)
Instructions
In a large saucepan, cook sausage and ground beef over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
Add onion, celery and garlic. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until tender.
Stir in tomatoes, beans, broth, tomato paste, brown sugar, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, cumin and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Sprinkle it with cheese if you like and serve immediately.
