- A packet of whole wheat spaghetti for a low carb alternative
- Grated Parmesan
- Tomato Sauce Ingredients
- Canned tomatoes
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 onion
- 2 cups of fresh basil
- 3 teaspoons of oregano
- 2 teaspoons of pepper
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- Meatballs Ingredients
- 500 grams of ground turkey
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup of whole wheat bread, crumbled
- ½ cup of whole milk
Instructions
Sauce Instructions
- Heat your olive oil, then saute onion and garlic.
- Add the oregano and fresh basil leaves along with pepper.
- Stir in the canned tomatoes and leave to simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the sugar, which takes out the tartness of the tomatoes, followed by salt.
Meatballs Instructions
- Add the meatball ingredients to a bowl, and roll into tiny balls.
- Sautee over a pan for 4 minutes, until brown.
- Add the balls to the sauce and reheat the sauce, leaving to simmer for 5 minutes.
- Finally, cook the spaghetti as per the package instructions. To serve, add spaghetti and top with sauce. Garnish with a basil leaf and sprinkling of parmesan.
